Getting married in Italy is a dream come true. After your wedding in Italy it will be time to enjoy your Italy honeymoon. Choosing an Italy honeymoon destination is easy if you follow my five tips to choosing a perfect Italy honeymoon destination:
Step 1: What time of year are you getting married in Italy?
Before choosing an Italy Honeymoon Destination, you need to know the time of year that you are getting married in Italy. For instance, if you are getting married in Italy in the summer, then you may want to chose a coastal Italy honeymoon destination as the cities tend to be hot and crowded. Both the Amalfi Coast and Portofino are stunning. Also, you would be able to choose from the many Italian islands like Capri, Sardinia and the Aeolians. However if you are getting married in the winter, these Italy honeymoon destinations may not be as beautiful and vibrant in the colder months. During this time you may want to consider a city vacation like Rome, Florence or even Venice.
Step 2: What do you want to do on your honeymoon?
After your wedding in Italy is complete you will have to decide whether you just want to relax and enjoy the area that you were married in or travel to a new destination during your Italy honeymoon. If you want to be active after your wedding in Italy, then the cities are better as they have more to see and do. Here are some ideas: In Tuscany you can travel to the small medieval towns and vineyards for wine and olive oil tastings. In Rome you can visit the Vatican and other historical monuments. In Florence you can see the famous David sculpture and the art of the Uffizi Museum. However, if you just want to unwind and relax after your wedding in Italy then you may want to rent a private villa in Tuscany with a great view. You could also head to one of the Italian islands and sit on the beach and soak in the Italian sunshine!
Step 3: How much time do you have to spend on your Italy honeymoon?
If you only have a few days, you may want to choose an Italy honeymoon destination that is close to where your wedding in Italy took place. For instance, if you had an Amalfi Coast wedding, a perfect honeymoon destination is the island of Capri. Or if you were married in Portifino then maybe Lake Como or Sardinia will be a better choice as they are closer. If your wedding in Italy took place in Florence then you may want to consider the seaside village of Lucca or even Chianti for your Italy honeymoon. However, if you have a few weeks off from work and responsibilities then you may want to consider getting a train pass and traveling around the entire country or possibly booking a villa. The choice is yours!
Step 4: Do you want to explore the country?
Italy is a small country and has a great train system. You can easily get from one place to the next within a few hours. This will allow you to visit many parts of Italy during your Italy honeymoon. In fact once your wedding in Italy is complete you can hop on a train where a first class ticket is inexpensive and be in another amazing city by lunch!
Step 5: What is your budget?
Some areas of Italy are very seasonal and finding an amazing hotel, can be very expensive. For instance, if you wanted to spend your Italy honeymoon in Italy’s famous summer destination of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, expect to spend a lot of money. However, there are many small towns and more inexpensive places on the island of Sardinia to spend your Italy honeymoon. The key is to try to travel in shoulder season. The weather is usually still good, the crowds are less and the prices are cheaper.
So as you see there are just a few things to think about before booking your Italy honeymoon destination.

The Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations In The World

Most young couples would say that the best honeymoon destination is a bed, your bed, next doors bed, a sun bed, any bed as that’s where you will spend most of the time. But you should make the effort to at least conduct your bed fest somewhere quite special. With this in mind, I have gathered together the top 10 honeymoon destinations in the world as populated by travel agents statistics. Most are obvious but some may surprise you. Hopefully, this will help you decide where you want to conduct your bed fest.
The Bahamas: If you like rock climbing, water skiing, wind surfing, wind sailing, kayaks, pedal boats and water sports set in a tropical paradise, this is it. Most people report feeling quite safe and of course the weather and beaches are quite special.
Barbados: This is a commercial destination and filled with a party atmosphere. Quite built up and busy so if you are party animals, this is the place for you. Barbados has great beaches, great weather and lots of bars and night clubs. If you want a relaxing tropical island this isn’t it.
St. Lucia: Here you have a relaxing tropical island with white sandy beaches, banana trees, a working cocoa plantation, waterfalls and more. It offers a lot of the things people look for in a paradise honeymoon. At Anse Chastanet in St. Lucia there is a reef right off the beach which is great for diving and snorkelling. It’s pricey, but it is a truly gorgeous paradise.
Mauritius: Mauritius offers a lot of high-end resorts and is consequently quite expensive. There are all the usual water sports plus a relaxing environment. This is high end honeymooning though, so the service is great and the hotels are fantastic. Some of the towns are dated but that all adds to the ambience.
Sardinia: Is a great place to stay if you want to travel and see a bit of romantic Europe. Sicily and The Aeolian Islands are easy trips to take when in Sardinia. It is a truly romantic place and very relaxing with many old buildings and traditional activities. It’s very hot in Summer.
Paris: Obviously a romantic place for those that want to visit museums and some of the most famous landmarks in history. No beaches, no palm trees but lots of culture and art. You really need to go in Summer though as the weather isn’t great any other time.
Seychelles: Here again we have an exclusive place and expensive because of it. It’s a great place for nature lovers and for a relaxing honeymoon. Anse Victorin on Fregate is a fantastic beach, a beautiful little crescent of sand backed by coconut trees.
Venice: For me the most romantic of destinations with the most romantic hotels and masses of culture, history and the restaurants are the best. Now unlike Paris, Summer is not the best time to visit as the canals can smell a bit. Spring is the best time and is generally plenty warm enough.
New York: If you want a rollercoaster ride of a honeymoon, this is the place for you. Great popular landmarks and the best entertainment you will ever find. Take a map of Manhattan; As contrary to the movies portrayal, some modern cabbies don’t know their way around and some will take you the long way round by mistake (yeah right!).
Reykjavik: This is the joker of the pack and a bit of a surprise to me too. But it is in the top 10 honeymoon destinations in the world. It’s romantic and again it’s for people that like geological nature. Imagine standing with the one you love watching the Northern Lights and you must do the Golden Circle Tour and the Blue Lagoon. Don’t forget when packing that this is Iceland and there is no Summer.
Not all the top 10 honeymoon destinations in the world involve tropical islands. Obviously there are many places you can go for your honeymoon but I have only covered the top 10 honeymoon destinations in the world according to travel agents statistics. Most of the destinations have interesting places to visit and wonderful things to do, so you will probably want to venture from the bed and hotel bar occasionally. Wherever you go, I’m sure it will be fantastic, enjoy your bed fest.
