10 Tips to Ensure a Successful Honeymoon
September 11, 2011 by
1. Discuss the destination. He might want an island with sun, ocean and palm trees with loads of relaxation while she might want Kenya with bush and wildlife and safari. Choose a destination that caters for both. Example, you could choose three nights safari in Kenya and then move to a resort along the coast where you can relax on the white sand, ocean in front of you, sipping cocktails. This way, you both get what you want and you’re both happy.
2. Check low season specials for the destination that you decide upon. Example – If you are getting married in May, highly recommended to check that your chosen destination is NOT having its peak period in May because this will mean paying almost double to what you would pay in low season. Check honeymoon specials offered for your destination like discounts for brides, fruit baskets, champagne, room upgrades and sometimes gifts from the resort or a free day tour.
3. Decide on a budget and stick to it. This will ensure that there is no huge debt when you return from your honeymoon. Not a good way to start out together. Try to book a package where everything is included prior to departure. Example – make sure that flights, taxes, transfers, accommodation, all meals, all drinks and even a tour or two are all included. This ensures that you both know exactly how much you’re spending and there are no surprises. The ONLY extras will be those that you both decide upon once there. Discuss the spending money and do not exceed it. Or, at least try not to.

4. Decide on a honeymoon specialist to help you with the organising. A company that is experienced in this field will be able to give you all the tips you need to save money and of course, the very best advice on the destination chosen. They will provide you with country information, health requirements, visa and passport requirements and these are all extremely important.
5. Ask the consultant for three options and give her your budget so that she immediately knows which resorts she can put forward. If you have any concerns, discuss them with the consultant. Highlight your requirements – example, you would like fully inclusive options if they are available for your budget, you would like a room closest to the ocean or a safari tent close to bathroom facilities etc. Discuss optional tours available for your chosen destination and ask for excursion lists available for the resorts.
6. If you would like to arrange something really special and romantic as a surprise for your spouse, like a beautiful private sunset dinner on the beach, take your consultants email address and email her about your idea. She can then make the arrangements for you.
7. Once you have your quotes and you’ve decided on your resort, ensure that you understand every part of the quotation laid out for you. Does it include flights, AIRPORT TAXES, a pick up from the airport when you arrive at your chosen destination, does it include all meals, drinks and tours. Exactly how many nights does the quotation state. Is the room category suitable and does it include a double/queen or king size bed. Check the payment cut off date because if you pay months in advance, you could qualify for a discount.
8. You can request little extras for the night that you arrive. Example, flowers in the room, rose petals strewn all over the room, bubble bath and candles in the bathroom and whatever you would like. A great consultant will take care of your requests.
9. Make sure that any medication required is packed. Sometimes it is difficult to buy medication at certain destinations. Any personal things like contact lense liquid, batteries for digital cameras and the like can be very costly in other countries. MAKE SURE THAT ALL YOUR TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION is checked and is in a safe place.
10. Pack a light bag that you can take on board with you which must be filled with anything that the two of you might need for the first night together – Just in case luggage goes astray. Take an empty suit case with you for all those great goodies that you plan on buying……and most of all……RELAX, ENJOY and CREATE WONDERFUL HONEYMOON MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The very mention of honeymoon brings a twinkle in the eyes with several pictures of a beautiful location, where you celebrate the beginning of a beautiful married life with your loved one. If walking down the aisle is the most memorable moment for a couple, a honeymoon is the most pleasurable time when the partners get to know each other and spend that special time with each other. Talking of a luxurious honeymoon, the first picture that comes to mind is often of a beautiful white beach with a vast blue expanse of water that seems to be boundless and the sugar white sand on the beach shining as the rays of the glorious morning sun touches them. No wonder why there are hundreds and hundreds of people flying to far off beach destinations for a perfect honeymoon to begin their marital life. There is a certain mystic charm about beaches that never fails to enchant anyone.
If Maldives is calling out to your heart and you find yourself being taken away by its gorgeous beaches, think no more and listen to your heart. A collection of more than 1,000 islands, Maldives is a paradise on earth and when it comes to a honeymoon, Maldives offers the perfect combination of privacy and a beautiful backdrop – the sun, the sand and the sea and a lot of activities for you to enjoy and amidst all this, ample opportunity to come close to your partner.

There are several species of dolphins and you just have to be lucky to catch some of the most amazing ones. The best way to discover the amazing beauty of the islands is to take a yacht and forget yourself in the beauty around you. If you are not the one to just relax and want to have your share of fun and adventure with your partner, then how about scuba diving, snorkeling the reef or surfing on the lovely waves. If you love fishing, there are ample opportunities for a great fishing experience.
Apart from the fun and frolic, there is great food too. Maldives offers delicious food, including all kinds of sea food like lobster, scallops, octopus, squid and tuna. Since, several couples arrive to Maldives every year to mark the beginning of their blissful married life, there are great resorts providing world class facilities in Maldives. Caneel Bay – The Perfect Honeymoon
April 16, 2011 by
Choosing your honeymoon location is something that the bride and groom can do together. It can be a lot of fun to plan your honeymoon. Whereas planning your wedding can certainly be stressful and time consuming, just to name a few adjectives (feel free to insert your own), planning the honeymoon can be fun and exciting. Not all grooms like to help with the wedding planning, but planning the honeymoon is something the couple can do together. Planning your getaway can be a stress reliever, the break from wedding planning that you need. There are many different places a couple can choose to go on honeymoon, but one of my favorite locations is Caneel Bay. Caneel Bay is a luxury resort located at St. John Bay in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is the place to go if you are looking for some nice relaxation in the sun, a true beach resort for the happy honeymooners.
Caneel Bay can be the perfect honeymoon choice as it may be everything you are looking for. This resort offers so much such as beautiful rooms, seven different beaches, numerous activities to participate in and tons of amenities to make any honeymoon or vacation scream luxury.
When you arrive on the island you can be picked up at the airport and you will be given a welcome bottle of island rum to start off your vacation. As mentioned previously there are many things to see and do while you are on your honeymoon. Of course as this is a beach resort many of the activities are directly related to the beach and the water. Some of these activities include an underwater slideshow, snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, swimming, scuba diving and fishing.
Of course you can also just spend countless hours at the beach, sunbathing in the beautiful weather where you can enjoy the view of white sand and tranquil water. You can enjoy a good book, good company or have a drink or something to eat with the one you love. Of course you can discover your inner child while you are on vacation away from the big city and build a sand castle or two.
Still think there is not enough to do or enjoy, looking for some down time that does not necessarily have to be in the water or on the beach? Caneel bay can help you out there too. Just like any other vacation or honeymoon spot you can enjoy nice dinners, drinks at the bar, art and tennis lessons and of course access to relaxing massages.
If all this is sounding wonderful and your wedding is not far along in the planning, you might even consider getting married at Caneel Bay. This resort is not only the perfect place for a honeymoon or vacation, but it would also be a gorgeous wedding ceremony and reception site. Think about it. What girl has not thought about how wonderful it would be to get married on the beach, saying her vows with the sun and endless blue sky above her and her groom, not to mention all her family and friends? Getting married at Caneel Bay would be the best combination of nature, elegance and beauty that any bride can hope for.

Tropical Honeymoon Destinations for Newlyweds
December 18, 2010 by
The Caribbean is the most popular destination for American newlyweds. A sharp increase in wedding costs and a poor economy means that more couples are taking their honeymoons close to home. The Caribbean is an appealing option because of its proximity and the affordable package deals that are offered by most resorts. Travel agents and other industry insiders estimate that about one-third of U.S. newlyweds honeymoon in the Caribbean each year. In this article, we will review a few of the most popular islands in the region.
Jamaica
Jamaica has been receiving guests from the U.S. for nearly half a century. Longevity is not the only reason the island is the most popular destination in the Caribbean. In addition to its pristine white sand beaches and equable climate, Jamaica was the first island to offer guests all-inclusive deals. This simple arrangement gave tourists the ability to pay a single fee for the entire trip. All-inclusive deals are incredibly popular with honeymooners who don’t want to have to worry about paying for every meal or activity. That may be why 125,000 newlyweds honeymooned in Jamaica last year.
Why Go?
Because it is such a popular tourist destination, flights to Jamaica are competitively priced and only take about two hours from Florida. It is also the third largest island in the Caribbean, with a total land area of 4,300 square miles. It is also important to note that the official language of Jamaica is English, making it the third largest Anglophone country in the Americas, after the U.S. and Canada.
Then there are the activities. Because of its size and terrain, Jamaica offers more options than most Caribbean islands. Sightseeing, hiking, and cycling in the famous Blue Mountains are popular pastimes for newlyweds. There is also golf and tennis clubs for those who enjoy more traditional sports. And for the amateur or professional boating enthusiast, Kingston Harbour in the capital city is one of the largest natural harbors on earth.
The Bahamas
There are twenty-nine islands in the Bahamas, and the closest one is just a thirty-minute plane ride from Miami International Airport. Islands in the chain have been receiving guests for over a century, and tourism now accounts for about sixty percent of total GDP. As you might imagine, resorts in the Bahamas know how to treat their guests, especially newlyweds. All-inclusive packages are offered on most of the major islands.
Why Go?
Since travel costs are determined by distance, the flights and cruises to the Bahamas are far more affordable than to any other destination in the Caribbean. The most popular spots for adventurous honeymooners are on the islands that offer gambling. There are two large casino resorts located on New Providence and two on Grand Bahama. Most of the larger islands offer an eclectic mix of international dining options, from steak to pizza to sushi. And when it comes to daytime activities, water sports reign supreme. Swimming, sailing, snorkeling, parasailing, and scuba diving are offered on all of the islands as well. Of course, if you don’t feel like moving, you can always just lay out.
The Cayman Islands
Though the Caymans are not nearly as popular as our first two entries, they remain an affordable option due to their proximity. The islands are less than four hundred miles from the coast of Florida. The size of the three islands has always been a limiting factor when it comes to tourism. Of the three islands, Grand Cayman is the largest at just 76 square miles. The other two islands, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, are not large enough to support any major tourist resorts.
Why Go?
What the Cayman Islands lack in size, they more than make up for in underwater activities. The islands are home to some of the world’s most famous and challenging dive sites. Bloody Bay and Jackson’s Bight are the destination of choice for both amateur and professional divers. Dozens of independent companies offer diving lessons and guided tours for scuba divers of all experienced levels. Special packages for newlyweds are also available. And for all those landlubbers, Grand Cayman is large enough to support several substantial resorts. Popular sports and activities like golfing, tennis, hiking, and shopping can be found on the main island.
One thing we love about Grand Cayman is that it is small enough to be explored in an afternoon. Guided tours take tourists on historical tours and explain how Columbus first discovered the islands in 1503. The shimmering island chain has remained a British overseas territory since the Spanish ceded control of them under the Treaty of Madrid in 1670. Overseas banking and tourism has made the Caymans the richest islands in the Caribbean. As a result, their cities are clean and the crime rate is low. English is the official language. When planning your romantic honeymoon getaway, be sure to consider these prime tropical destinations.

Virgin Islands Top Resort Honeymoons Is Peter Island
July 4, 2010 by
The Virgin Islands Top Resort for Honeymoons has to be Peter Island.
Any visitor here would describe Peter Island as one of the very top Caribbean beautiful small island vacations, with just cause too!!
To be on your honeymoon on Peter Island, is just a dream come true, because as well as being a top Caribbean resort, it is probably the most romantic hotel in the Caribbean.
Honeymoons should always be romantic, and whilst it has to be said that what Peter Island is not, is that it could never be described as one of the most romantic affordable honeymoon ideas, because it is definitely not cheap, however it is one of the two most romantic vacations spots for me.
The first being when my husband proposed to me!! ………………
Enough of that, now what about Peter Island as the most romantic hotel in the Caribbean?
This was our first trip to the Caribbean, although we are very familiar with top class resorts, beautiful white sand beaches, and delicious food, but we were not prepared for some of the most beautiful beaches on Peter Island. It really is a top resort in every sense of the word. The sea is so clean and clear, and if you enjoy snorkelling, which we do, then the beaches we tried snorkelling from were excellent. There were plenty of opportunities to indulge on the water as well with hobie cats, sunfish, windsurfing, sailing, sea kayaking.
The best thing about the beaches apart from the sand and the sea was the fact that there were never many people there. We mostly went to Deadman’s Beach which runs from close to our room, past the beach restaurant
The island itself is a tropical paradise, palm trees, lush green vegetation, and VERY private. No streets, no taxis, no shops, no cruise ships, airports, time share salesmen, not even houses. This is a privately owned island, and it will stay that way – pristine, unspoiled paradise, and very very private.
The accommodation is probably understated, but we were lucky indeed to get an upgrade to a beachfront junior suite.
It was quite amazing, beautifully furnished, a huge bathroom with a double Jacuzzi, and shower. The view from this 1st floor suite was unforgettable, and incredibly you could walk out straight onto the beach without using the stairs or the front door.
I did like all the extras in the suite, the robes, flip flops etc, but the best thing to me was the fact that the radio in the room took CD’s and I always take some away with me, so we could listen to our favourites when we were dressing or just relaxing.
Finally the fridge in the suite was well stocked, and the prices remarkably cheap.
I come now to the food, and with it the service, and this is really where Peter Island has rightly established itself as the Virgin Islands top honeymoon resort, because if ever a girl wants to be pampered it is on her honeymoon!!
Well the food at Peter Island is extremely good, and loving my food as I do, this was a foodie paradise. Breakfast, lunches down on the beach, dinners were all delicious, and I can’t remember a bad meal.
The service was mostly superb, the staff went the extra mile many times for us, and were very good at remembering our names, and supplying us with things like snacks when we wanted them even if we had only casually mentioned the subject.
The total highlight for me was the spa. My husband and I both had massages for the first time, and we loved the pool at the spa with the best views.
Peter Island certainly lived up to its reputation as top Caribbean small island vacation, and will always be on my list of most romantic getaways, but as it is not cheap, whilst most romantic it was not my most affordable honeymoon idea – but who cares – I loved it!!

Honeymoon in the Caribbean- Best Honeymoon Destinations
June 30, 2010 by
The Caribbean is one of the Best Honeymoon Destinations in the world. Out of all the different places which make up the Caribbean you will be ready to have whatever sort of honeymoon you desire.
Whether or not it is spending all day relaxing on the beach, golfing, intense water sports or simply an isolated getaway where you are the only 2 people around. The Caribbean has something for everybody.
I have come up with the top 5 places to Honeymoon in the Caribbean.
1. Cancun
On Mexico’s Eastern coastline Cancun is thought of by many as the premier honeymoon destination, simply because it has it all. You can swim all day at one of the many beaches, play golf in some of the best golf courses, shop to your heart’s content and then live it up at night in one of the numerous clubs.
2. Punta Cana
On the eastern side of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana has beaches coated with coconut trees giving it the nickname the Coconut Coast. If you are looking for a laid back relaxing beach honeymoon, this is the location for you.
3. Antigua
With almost 400 beaches, Antigua is surely a place for the sun loving water babies. The beaches are mostly protected from the wind from the island itself, so you can enjoy swimming in the wonderfully clear waters and sunbathing in the eggshell white sand all day long.
4. The Bahamas
With approximately seven hundred different islands varying in sizes The Bahamas make a particularly flexible honeymoon destination. The biggest island is Grand Bahama Island that has several all inclusive resorts or you can stay on one of many other islands including Nassau or Paradise Island. The neatest thing about the Bahamas is the fact it’s so straightforward to travel to from anywhere in the USA.
5. Jamaica
Likely one of the most cheap islands in the Caribbean ; Jamaica is widely known for Reggae, rum and jerk chicken. But there’s so very much more to this pretty island. In size Jamaica is the third largest in the Caribbean and they talk English so you do not have to fret about translation issues. With a climate that’s perfect year round Jamaica has it all.
Caribbean Honeymoons are a great option, but there are plenty of other places to choose from. Check out my website, Honeymoon Nation for honeymoon ideas, blogs, forums, pictures, videos and more.

Mae Phim (Thailand) : An Unforgettable Destination
April 21, 2010 by admin
Of course, the beaches in Mae Phim are fantastic. White sand and crystal blue water await you at more than one of its beaches. Though such beaches are not uncommon in Thailand, what makes the ones in Mae Phim different is the fact that they still remain totally unspoiled. They still retain their natural charm and beauty, and have not been excessively filled with deck-chairs, or over-run with hawkers. Mae offers several great beaches for you to choose from. There is no need to spend all of your vacation lying on the same beach – you could go to a different one each day. By walking just 10 or so minutes from central Mae Phim, you can find yourself a nice, practically deserted, stretch of beach that you can have all to yourself.
In terms of accommodation, there is a great range available. Simple guest-house, luxurious hotels, and everything in between can be chosen from. The most popular option though is a vacation rental home, whereby someone who owns a property in Mae Phim rents it out to tourists when they are not living in it themselves. There are some truly fantastic homes available to rent – private swimming pools, several bedrooms, widescreen TVs, etc. On arrival, and having unpacked your bags, you should take a stroll around the town center. Charming and authentic, but pleasingly modern, are the words that best sum it up. All modern amenities are available there, but they come with a Thai twist rather than being bland and boring.
The food is wonderful, the bars are great for sipping cocktails in as the sun comes down, and the shops are perfect for picking up unique souvenirs for your friends back home. Having been there for a day, you will feel completely relaxed and comfortable. By the time it comes to go home, you may well be tempted to buy your own vacation home in Mae Phim!
